The All Progressives Congress, APC, has stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not a member of the party despite his role in the recent FCT area council elections.
Wike, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had openly declared support for candidates aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the polls.
In the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory area council elections, the APC secured victory in five out of the six local government areas.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, declined to comment on whether Wike’s actions would amount to anti-party activity if he were a member of the APC.
“No, listen, you’re asking for me to speculate, and I will not speculate. That question is for the PDP. You should direct that question to the PDP as to how they organize their party, how they treat their members, how they handle matters like this in the Peoples Democratic Party.
“I cannot speculate, you know, on a matter that rests exclusively within the party,” Morka said.
The statement comes amid growing political debate over Wike’s cross-party collaboration in the FCT elections.
