The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2026 Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, Dr. Moses Paul Ogigi, has alleged that he was leading the poll before what he described as irregularities altered the outcome.
Ogigi, popularly known as Dr Mo, was defeated by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking on Arise News, he claimed that by 3pm on election day, he had already secured victory across polling units before “magic began to happen.”
“By 3pm I had already won the elections across board and then magic began to happen. And this is, this is a crazy thing,” he said.
He rejected the outcome of the election, alleging the imposition of curfews, mutilation of results, harassment of ADC members at polling units, and widespread vote buying.
“This is why these particular elections that we just concluded will be a defining moment in the democratic journey for Nigeria,” he stated.
“Not because it reflects the will of the people, but because it exposes that obstacle that hangs in the way of the will of the people.”
Ogigi added that he had entered the race with confidence in the democratic process and in what he described as renewed expectations following changes in INEC’s leadership, but expressed disappointment over how the election unfolded.
