President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed door meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The governor is understood to have visited Aso Rock to brief the President on the prevailing security situation in Bauchi State.
Parts of the state have recently witnessed disturbances, with particular concern over reported bandit activities in Alkaleri Local Government Area, which the governor said require urgent attention.
Following the meeting, Bala Mohammed spoke with State House correspondents on recent political developments, especially the wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He stated that those leaving the PDP are free to join any political party of their choice, noting that freedom of association remains a constitutional right.
Despite the defections, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to remain in the opposition party.
