The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that it may not be able to conduct a 100 per cent perfect election for now.
Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, made the remark on Sunday during the Citizens Town Hall Meeting on the Electoral Act held in Abuja.
He observed that many Nigerians expect flawless elections but stressed that achieving absolute perfection remains difficult at this stage.
“Let me just appeal to Nigerians because I have noticed now that what Nigerians desire is a perfect election.
“INEC will strive as much as possible to give this country the best election; however, we may not be able to achieve a 100 per cent perfect election for now,” he said.
Amupitan also addressed concerns about electronic transmission of results, noting that he does not consider transmission itself to be the problem.
According to him, the issue is not the existence of networks, but the adequacy and strength of Nigeria’s telecommunications infrastructure.
He assured Nigerians that the Commission remains committed to improving the electoral process and strengthening public confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
