The Young Progressives Party (YPP), Abia State Chapter, has officially announced the schedule for its forthcoming Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), and State Congresses as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s internal democratic structures across the state.
In a formal notification addressed to the National Secretariat in Abuja and dated March 4, 2026, the Abia State Chairman of the party, Hon. Uloocha Nelcinn, stated that the congresses were scheduled following extensive consultations and in line with the party’s constitution and internal guidelines.
According to the schedule released by the party leadership:
• Ward Congresses will hold on Monday, March 16, 2026
• LGA Congresses will hold on Wednesday, March 18, 2026
• State Congress will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026
The party leadership explained that the congresses will be conducted across the three tiers of party administration in Abia State to elect officials and further consolidate the party’s organizational structure.
As part of preparations for the exercise and the broader expansion of the party’s grassroots base, the Abia State Chairman also announced the official opening of the YPP E-Registration portal, enabling both existing members and new entrants to participate in the party’s growing political movement.
According to the chairman, the digital platform will allow existing members to revalidate their membership status, while also providing an opportunity for new members to register and join what he described as the “Ballot Box Revolution.”
Party leaders say the initiative is designed to deepen democratic participation, improve membership documentation, and enhance mobilization ahead of future political activities in the state.
The Abia leadership of the YPP also called on the National Secretariat to provide the necessary oversight for the congresses, including the deployment of a monitoring committee and the provision of official materials to ensure a transparent, credible, and hitch-free exercise.
