Boluwatife Fayose, the son of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has stated that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was motivated by his admiration for the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, rather than by his father’s influence.
Boluwatife made the clarification while addressing APC leaders and members in Irepodun/Ifelodun State Constituency II after he was confirmed as the party’s consensus candidate for the State House of Assembly seat in Iworoko, Ekiti State.
He was presented to party leaders by the APC leadership from Afao Ward after the party resolved that the Assembly ticket for the constituency would be zoned to the ward.
While speaking at the meeting, Boluwatife expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their support, noting that his father who is not a member of the APC had sent his greetings to those present.
He emphasized that joining the APC was a personal decision.
“It is because of the good character of Governor Oyebanji, his love for the people, that attracted me to the APC. The most important thing on my mind is the forthcoming governorship election; that is our focus,” he said.
Boluwatife also pledged to work closely with constituents and cooperate with the current lawmaker to ensure electoral success in upcoming elections.
“I will make sure everybody is carried along and ensure nobody is left behind. But the most important thing right now is the June 20 governorship election, because without that, every other thing means nothing,” he added.
