The Nigerian Army has confirmed, with video evidence, the neutralization of about 63 terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The terrorists were killed after launching a coordinated attack aimed at breaching the 68 Battalion Main Defensive Area on Wednesday morning.
In a statement shared on its official X handle, the Nigerian Army Headquarters said the insurgents advanced into the area from Duguri on foot, supported by multiple armed drones, but were successfully repelled by troops.
The statement added that troops have “since commenced exploitation operations to pursue and eliminate the fleeing terrorists, while Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance platforms are being deployed to dominate the adversary’s withdrawal routes and prevent regrouping.”
Footage released by the Army showed several lifeless bodies of the neutralized terrorists at the scene of the operation.
