At least eight persons have been confirmed dead following a deadly improvised explosive device, IED, attack in Niger State, while another explosion in Kwara State has left several others feared dead.

The incident in Niger State occurred along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area, where terrorists detonated an explosive that struck a moving vehicle on Monday.

Reports indicate that the attackers also destroyed a critical bridge linking the communities of Luma, Babanna and Agwara. The bridge is a major route for residents, especially traders and commuters heading to the Babanna border market, which operates every Monday.

In a related development, a suspected bomb explosion rocked Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on the same day, with many casualties feared.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, residents suspect that the device may have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists.

The latest incident comes weeks after a similar attack in the area, where at least 75 people were killed and several homes were destroyed in Woro and Nuku communities.

Following that earlier attack, President Bola Tinubu had ordered the deployment of an army battalion to the affected area.

As of the time of this report, no official statement has been released regarding the latest explosions, and efforts to reach the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire Adeyemi, were unsuccessful.
