Manchester City have secured their first trophy of the season after defeating Arsenal 2 0 to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
Pep Guardiola’s side entered the match following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League round of 16 by Real Madrid, ending their hopes of a quadruple.
Arsenal, meanwhile, came into the fixture still competing on multiple fronts in pursuit of silverware.
The first half ended without goals as both teams maintained a cautious approach.
Manchester City broke the deadlock in the second half after a goalkeeping error from Kepa Arrizabalaga allowed Nico O’Reilly to head into an empty net.
O’Reilly added a second goal to seal the victory, ensuring City lifted the trophy.
Despite the win, City remain nine points behind Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
