PDP NEC Adopts Zoning Framework for National Convention

The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reaffirmed that the party’s zoning arrangement will serve as the framework for its forthcoming national convention.

This decision was contained in a communiqué issued after the 107th NEC meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

During the session, members deliberated on critical issues concerning the party’s structure, internal cohesion, and future electoral strategy.

The communiqué was signed by the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.

NEC ratified the successful conduct of ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses across the country, commending party leaders, electoral panels, stakeholders, and members for ensuring credible and peaceful processes.

The committee also reviewed the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded. It reiterated its commitment to developing a reliable, technology driven membership database and encouraged members nationwide to participate actively.

On party structure, NEC emphasized that the zoning arrangement for national elective offices remains consistent with the PDP’s principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and balance, and will guide the upcoming national convention.

It reads partly: “NEC noted that the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming National Convention has commenced. All interested aspirants are advised to comply with the approved guidelines and timelines as issued by the Party.

“The zoning arrangement shall serve as the guiding framework for the forthcoming National Convention.”

The committee also noted that the sale of nomination forms has commenced, urging aspirants to strictly adhere to established guidelines and timelines.

NEC further declared its readiness for the convention and directed all relevant organs and committees to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible exercise, themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”

Reaffirming the supremacy of the party, the committee called on members to remain united, disciplined, and focused on collective goals.
