United States President Donald Trump has disclosed key details of ongoing discussions between Washington and Tehran, stating that negotiations are centered on 15 major points aimed at resolving the conflict.

Speaking to reporters, Trump explained that the primary focus of the talks is the complete cessation of Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions, describing it as points “one, two, and three” of the negotiation framework.

He added that if an agreement is reached, the United States would move to take control of Iran’s enriched uranium, a critical component of its controversial nuclear programme.

Iran has consistently rejected such demands, maintaining its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began military operations against Iran during the negotiation process, raising concerns over Washington’s commitment to diplomatic engagement.

The US is seeking to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, as the country currently operates four declared enrichment facilities.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, Iran has a stockpile of 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent purity, which is close to the weapons grade threshold of 90 percent.

The agency noted that such a stockpile could potentially enable the production of up to 10 nuclear bombs if weaponized, although it clarified that this does not mean Iran currently possesses such weapons.

Trump stressed that dismantling Iran’s nuclear programme is a key condition for any agreement, claiming that Tehran has agreed in principle.

“We are very open to negotiating a deal. It must be a favorable agreement, ensuring no further wars and no nuclear weapons,” he said.

“They will not possess nuclear weapons any longer. They are in agreement on that. If any of these conditions are unmet, there will be no deal,” the US leader added.

He further suggested that the US could step in to retrieve nuclear materials from Iran if a deal is finalized.

Trump also remarked that the ongoing strikes have significantly weakened Iran’s leadership structure, suggesting that some may interpret the situation as a form of regime change.

In the absence of a deal, he warned, “we will simply continue our bombing campaign with fervor.”
