Former presidential candidate and ex member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged Nigerians to take the 2027 general elections seriously following his defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Kwankwaso, who officially registered with the ADC at his Miller Road residence on Monday, emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process, describing the upcoming elections as critical to the nation’s future.

“For you to understand what I’m talking about, from today I will not allow anybody to pass the gates of my house without ADC and INEC registered cards; therefore, go out and ensure that you register accurately with our party and INEC,” he said.

He stressed that Nigerians have a responsibility to address what he described as misgovernance by participating fully in the democratic process.

Also speaking, the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, described the development as a significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

“We stand together today, not just as one political party but as people united to make our dear country, Nigeria, a better nation. Nigeria can be better and must work better for all Nigerians,” he said.

Mark welcomed Kwankwaso and his supporters to the party, noting that the move reflects a broader effort to unite opposition figures under a common platform.

“Your coming to ADC is not merely a political statement; it is a deliberate response to the clarion call by well-meaning Nigerians for all opposition leaders to be united and present a common front to protect our democracy,” he added.
