Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.
The development was disclosed by former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, in a statement shared on his X account on Monday.
According to Ahmad, Yusuf Buhari’s decision to run for the Sandamu, Daura, Mai’Adua federal constituency in Katsina State under the All Progressives Congress followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders.
“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” Ahmad wrote on X.
Yusuf Buhari’s father served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023 before his passing on July 13, 2025.
