Students of Abia State origin at the University of Jos have expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for his timely and compassionate intervention in supporting them during the ongoing challenges in Plateau State.

In a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator, Nwachukwu Chiamaka Rosemary, and the Secretary, Ugochukwu Victor Ugonna, the students noted that although they initially appealed to the Abia State Government for evacuation via a Publication by Promise Uzoma Okoro due to the prevailing crisis, subsequent developments, including a circular from the University management on resumption necessitated a reconsideration of their request.

According to the students, they subsequently sought welfare support while remaining on campus, a request which the Abia State Government graciously honored through the provision of palliatives to ease their conditions.

The students described the gesture as timely and impactful, stating that it has brought significant relief and renewed hope to many affected individuals.

“Your kind intervention clearly demonstrates your unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of Abia students, even those far from home. At a time of uncertainty, your support has restored a sense of stability within our community,” the statement read.

They further noted that the Governor’s action reflects purposeful leadership, compassion, and dedication to service, especially in moments of distress.

The students offered prayers for continued wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Otti as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.

They also reaffirmed their gratitude, describing the intervention as a strong reassurance that Abia students remain valued and supported wherever they may be.
