The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Nyesom Wike has distanced itself from a recent meeting between the Taminu Turaki led group and the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the faction maintained that the engagement was not authorized and should be disregarded by members and the public.
Mohammed emphasized that the PDP had not entered into any formal or informal discussions with the ADC or its representatives, noting that individuals who attended the meeting did so in their personal capacities.
He described claims surrounding the engagement as baseless and not reflective of the official position of the party.
“The party remains focused on its internal processes and its commitment to credible leadership for Nigerians,” he stated, adding that preparations for the party’s primaries were ongoing, with timelines and guidelines to be communicated in due course.
Earlier, the Turaki led faction had visited the David Mark led ADC in what was described as a solidarity engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which lasted about two hours, focused on national developments and possible inter party cooperation.
Notable figures in attendance included Jerry Gana, Babangida Aliyu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as well as Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.
Also present were ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola and former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, alongside other senior political figures.
