The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has agreed to allocate 60 percent of its leadership positions to former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters, following a stakeholders’ meeting to resolve internal arrangements.

State Chairman, Musa Ungogo, confirmed that the decision was reached through consensus, with Kwankwaso’s camp receiving the larger share, while the remaining 40 percent would be distributed among existing party members and newly aligned groups.

He noted that no specific position was set aside for former Deputy Governor Nasiru Gawuna, but explained that Gawuna is now aligned with Kwankwaso’s bloc and would be accommodated within that structure.

Ungogo stated that the 40 percent allocation would cover a broad mix of political entrants, including members from the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, defectors from the All Progressives Congress, Social Democratic Party members, and individuals previously not active in politics.

“One thing you can take home is that every group and every member is happy about the sharing formula. And secondly, all the positions that you will get from this congress today would be reached by consensus. There will be nothing to regret.”

He added that the party is witnessing increased momentum in Kano, with a growing number of members joining from various political backgrounds. According to him, Kwankwaso’s entry into the party has significantly strengthened its position and accelerated its expansion across the state.
