The former Kaduna lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has rejoiced over the rejection of Lauretta Onochie, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, by the Nigerian senate.
On Tuesday, the senate declined Lauretta Onochie’s nomination as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a report by the Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Kabir Gaya said her nomination breaches Federal Character principles.
Kabir Gaya cited Section 14 (1) 3 of the Constitution, stating that somebody was already a Commissioner from her zone, and the law remained clear about that.
Reacting, Sani, on his Twitter page, said INEC has been saved from a serpent following the senate’s rejection of Onochie
His tweet read: “INEC saved from a serpent.”
