The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has berated the purported election held for the youth and women wings of the organization by the George Obiozor-led faction.

On Thursday the Engr. Chidi Ibe-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a release sent to newsmen, disclosed that there is an existing national executive council of the youth and women wings elected in January 2021 after its general election, describing the purported emergence of Mr Damian Okafor from Ebonyi and Mrs Daniel Rita from Delta as national leaders of the respective wings as kangaroo, nullity and illegal.

The highest Igbo ethnic body urged the Ndigbo to discounternance the purported exercise that produced the duo as national officers of the youth and women wings.

Ohanaeze further cautioned the youths and women to avoid being used to impersonate the elected national executive committee of the wings, as well as causing disaffection in the Igbo group.

The Chidi Ibe-led leadership also insisted that it remains the authentic national executives of the apex socio-cultural group in Igboland.

According to the release, “Engr. Chidi Ibe was genuinely and dully elected as President General alongside with officers of the national executives, including the youth and women wings elections that were subsequently conducted”.

The group reiterated that its leadership will continue to live up to expectation and deliver good effective leadership to Ndigbo and the Igbo nation as a whole.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo also stressed that it would ensure the application of equity, justice and fairness in her administration and management of the affairs.

The faction restated its call on the general public to completely disassociate themselves from such illegality in the name of election just to distract the peace of the land.

Recall that the youth and women of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo had on 5th and 6th of August, 2021 held its national election at the headquarters in Enugu State.

The Professor George Obiozor-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo had lauded the youth and women wings of the group for the peaceful conduct of its election for new officers of the national executive committee.

Okafor and Rita had emerged national leaders of the respective wings.

Obiozor, in a release on his behalf by the factional National Publicity Secretary of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonnia, described the concluded election as timely and stated that the peaceful exercise will add impetus to the efforts and serious contributions towards providing solutions to the various critical problems facing the nation in general and Igboland in particular.
