Seven passengers reportedly died while 23 others were injured in a multiple crash, which occurred at Danco filling station area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.The crash victims consisted of four males and three females.
The accident, our correspondent gathered, involved four vehicles – a truck laden with container with number plate AGL 632 XH, two commercial buses with number plates XB 367 LAF and XC 909 FFA and a Toyota Camry marked KEY 857 DN.
The accident happened close to a construction point, and a site where the construction company handling the road reconstruction along the highway, Julius Berger, has its yard.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Ogun State, Adetunji Adegoke, confirmed the accident, but declined to make any comment on the number of casualties or those injured.
He said the FRSC officials and the police were at the accident scene to rescue those injured and clear the crash site for free movement of vehicles.
He said on the telephone, “It is true that a multiple accident involving four vehicles happened along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Both FRSC officials and policemen were there for rescue operation.
“And those injured were taken to the hospital.”
The Unit Commander, Sagamu of the FRSC, Abdullahi Mohammed-Lawal, who was at the crash site, told our correspondent that those injured were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, and another private hospital in the vicinity.
He said, “Those who were injured had been taken to the OOUTH, Sagamu, and a private hospital, Fakoya Hospital.”
