Abia State Governorship election Petition Tribunal has relocated to the Federal Capital, Abuja.
The Tribunal which had moved to Damgrate Hotels in Umuahia following the strike embarked by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in the state, was directed to relocate to Abuja by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The Tribunal has 180 Days to dispense Judgement in the petitions filed by the Governorship candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chief Ikechi Emenike and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Okey Ahiwe against the declaration of Dr Alex Otti as the Governor elect of Abia State.
PUO reports gathered that the move was to ensure the tribunal met the deadline stipulated by law.
Similar situations happened in Rivers and Ebonyi States where the Tribunal were also asked to relocated their sittings to Abuja.
