Ahead of the Inauguration of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, Stakeholders of the Labour Party are projecting Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa, a Former Executive Chairman of Aba South and member elect for Aba South State Constituency to emerge as the 11th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, PUO reports exclusively learnt.
However, this development negates the Standing rule of the Abia State House of Assembly which stipulates that only ranking members of the House will be elected as Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
In the principle of naturally Justice, Abia South Senatorial District will produce the next Speaker of the House of Assembly as the Governor Dr Alex Otti who ran election from Abia Central Senatorial District is strongly in support of the arrangements.
It is not yet clear if the Governor has sent letter of proclamation of the 8th Abia Assembly but sources said the House is billed to be Inaugurated on Tuesday 13th June 2023 unless if there is any last minute change of plans.
