Philip Shaibu, the state’s deputy governor, has been impeached by the Edo State House of Assembly.
According to reports, the seven-member panel led by Justice S.A. Omonua examined the petition against the deputy governor, and their findings led to the impeachment.
According to the panel’s reports, the complainant’s accusation of perjury against the deputy governor was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt, however the deputy governor was found guilty of disclosing official government documents.
Twenty members attended the plenary, and eighteen of them voted in favor of the panel’s reports and one against.
Blessing Agbrbaku, the Speaker of the House, gave the order to send a signed copy of the House’s impeachment judgment to Godwin Obaseki, the State Governor, for his approval.
