Anambra Poll: Why We move from APGA to Labour Party – Decampees

In Anambra State, more than a hundred members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defected and joined the Labour Party (LP), promising to prevent the current state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, from being re-elected.

The head of the APGA, Soludo, is expected to run for reelection as governor of the state the following year.

The decampees, who were primarily from the state’s Ogbaru local government area, were welcomed at the Onitsha Holiday Resort over the weekend by Chief Emeka Nwosu, the chairman of the Labour Party in Ogbaru local government area. Hon. Afam Ogene, the leader of the LP Caucus and a member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbaru federal constituency, also provided assistance.

Hon. Ndubuisi Igwilo, the leader of the APGA decampees and a previous candidate for the state House of Assembly’s Ogbaru 1 seat in the 2023 election, charged Soludo with undermining Peter Obi’s bid for president.

Igwilo also said, “I was formerly in APGA, but currently in the Labour Party. I led the decampees into the LP.
