According to statements made by the federal government, it is fostering an atmosphere that will allow all participants and stakeholders in the media and information ecosystem to prosper.
Speaking during the Sectoral Press Briefings held to commemorate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first anniversary of office was Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation.
Last Monday marked the beginning of the briefing series, which was introduced by His Excellency George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to Idris, the briefings are in keeping with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intention to completely answer to Nigerians by showcasing the achievements documented in the Federal Government’s development objectives, known as the Renewed Hope Agenda, rather than lingering on hoopla in his first year in office.
The ministers of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, were present at the briefing on Monday.
He said that while promoting the goals and initiatives of the current administration, the government is determined to ensure that its communication of government operations rebuilds public confidence in communication.
“We are also creating an enabling environment for all players and stakeholders in the media and information ecosystem thrive,” he added.
“One highlight here is the recent directive by Mr. President to the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, through the Bank of Industry (BOI), to extend its single-digit interest-rate financing to media organizations in the country.
“It is now incumbent upon media practitioners to develop bankable proposals to access this financing facility being offered by the Federal Government, and I hope that you the media will take full advantage of this great opportunity.”
