The Rivers State chapter of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) has expressed its admiration for the Rivers State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu, for their exemplary professionalism, impartiality, and dedication in managing the ongoing political tensions in the state.
OMPAN has urged CP Disu to sustain his neutral stance in the face of the prevailing political uncertainty, thereby paving the way for the much-needed peace that the people of Rivers State are yearning for.
The association has also commended the State Police Command for taking proactive measures to secure the 23 local government council secretariats and other critical government facilities, following the outbreak of violence and chaos in the various council areas.
By deploying conventional and anti-riot police officers to these facilities, the Command has successfully prevented further bloodshed and breakdown of law and order.
OMPAN has also applauded the Command’s appeal to all individuals and groups to respect the law and desist from actions that could jeopardize the peace and stability of the state.
The association has reaffirmed its commitment to objective and unbiased reporting of the events unfolding in the state, and has urged the Police Command to remain dedicated to protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.
