Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, has been pronounced incompetent to talk on the political issue in Rivers State by the Coalition for Good Governance in Rivers State.

The coalition stated that Ugochinyere does not represent Rivers State or any portion of it, but rather the people of Ideato North/South in Imo State, in a statement released on Thursday and jointly signed by its president, Joe Samson, and secretary, Aaron Igbijoh.

They emphasized that he is displaying ignorance and conveniently ignoring the fact that the State Assembly has extended the tenure of the 23 local government chairmen for an additional six months, all while calling for the government of Rivers State to cite sections of the criminal code and file treason charges against them. The Court of Appeal is now considering the case.

The coalition emphasized that he is an intruder engaging in topics outside of his jurisdiction and constituency by interfering in the internal affairs of another state.

They urged Ugochinyere to stop frequently disparaging Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike with foul language.

The statement read: “Rivers State has very competent, experienced, and well-read representatives in the National Assembly who can effectively speak for the state if and when the need arises.”

The coalition stated that they expected Ugochinyere to perform in a way worthy of the term “Honourable,” but he persisted in embarrassing the green chamber with remarks and deeds unworthy of a man holding such a high position.

“It is evident to us that the current rift in Rivers State has become a fertile ground for Ugochinyere once again to further his pecuniary appetite, but we assure him that he will fail at the end of the day.

“Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere should keep his focus on his Imo State, where people are still compelled to stay at home on Mondays, children cannot go to school, and businesses cannot open.

“He is not a Rivers man and is totally irrelevant to the affairs of Rivers State. He once raised alarms that a man was responsible for killing his uncle and burning his cars. He is already facing enough troubles in his home and personal life and has not demonstrated any ability to solve them.

“We hereby warn Ugochinyere to desist from his childish and mercenary comments on matters concerning Rivers State. We will not hesitate henceforth to take any measures we deem necessary against him if he takes this long-overdue warning lightly. The Niger Delta is not Imo.”
