Nigerians may be facing more difficult times as a result of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) raising the price of gasoline to N855 a litre.

This occurs at the same time that the management of NNPCL acknowledged that it was dealing with a $6 billion debt crisis from its overseas supply chain.

NNPCL kept its fuel price at N617 per litre, despite the fact that prices have changed since the Nigerian government removed the subsidy.

In a statement, Olufemi Soneye, the company’s chief corporate communications officer, quietly acknowledged that rising fuel prices are to blame for the long lines that have formed at gas stations around the nation, lamenting the unsustainable nature of the fuel supply.

Rumors circulated that the national oil company was having difficulty meeting the demand for fuel supply at the beginning of this year after late PMS payments exceeded $3 billion.

Claims that the Federal Government was still subsidizing petroleum products had been repeatedly refuted, even at that point.

The new pump pricing was photographed by our reporter, and it quickly gained popularity on social media.

This morning, when our reporter was traveling to work, she noticed a lot of people at bus stations attempting to board vehicles in order to go about their regular lives.
