As the incoming Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is presently being vetted by the Senate.

Olukayode Ariwoola retired in August, and Kudirat Kekere-Ekun was said to have taken over as CJN in an acting capacity.

Judges from the several courts and Kekere-Ekun’s family members were present when the screening on Wednesday got underway.

This comes just a day after President Bola Tinubu requested in a letter to the Senate that the House screen and certify her as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

“I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun CON for confirmation as CJN,” Tinubu wrote in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“While it is my hope that this request will receive the expeditious consideration and confirmation of the senate, please, accept the distinguished senate president the assurances of my highest consideration and personal regards.”
