Ahead of the Local Government Election Scheduled for November 2nd 2024 The Ohafia Improvement Union Incorporated, the umbrella body of all organizations in Ohafia, led members of Pan Ohafia group comprising executive members of Council of Ohafia Monarchs and Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council to meet with the Deputy Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE .
In a communique endorsed by Hon Richard Agwu,HRH Ezieogo Mba Okereke and HRH Eze Dr Ezeara, the group noted the lack of harmony among various groups in Ohafia, specifically among the Council of Ohafia Monarchs ( Nde Ezieogo) and Ohafia Traditional Rulers and called for an action to bring harmony for the coexistence of the two institutions in Ohafia Ancient Kingdom.
“The meeting also noted a revelation that thousands of PVCs are lying unclaimed in INEC office at Ohafia , the chronic power outage in Ohafia and efforts so far made in restoring electricity in Ohafia after many years “
In view of the above, the meeting resolved as follows:
“That the Pan Ohafia meeting resolved to ensure the election of an Ohafia person to the position of Ohafia Local Government Chairman in the forthcoming election”
“The meeting strongly and unequivocally condemns the continuous vandalization of electricity gadgets in Ohafia and in recent time the theft of armoured cable along Oboro – Okagwe axis , perpetrators of which are awaiting trials and vows to use relevant government agencies to prosecute future offenders”
“That the meeting stands resolute in fighting against security challenges in Ohafia and will continue to support and encourage conventional security agencies in the fight against criminality in Ohafia”they stated.
