The planners of the October 1 statewide demonstration against poverty in Nigeria have declared that the “showdown” will take place.

This occurs in the midst of warnings from the Nigerian Police Force and kicks from the Federal Government.

The information was provided by Omoyele Sowore, a former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, in a widely shared post on his X on Monday.

One of the main organizers of the scheduled demonstration, Sowore, wrote, “NO GOING BACK! #IntelligentOctober.

Additionally, Sowore stated in an interview posted on his Twitter that “Petroleum prices have increased by nearly N300 per litre between the last protest on August 1 and now, which is just two months ago.” The market has seen price increases and increasing depreciation of the naira. Our cities are being destroyed by floods. Entire communities have been wiped off by bandits.

Considering the nature of the demonstration, Sowore specified that Eagles Square in Abuja will host the nonviolent demonstration.

Similarly, the organizers of the demonstration in Lagos State announced that they intended to start their march at Ikeja Under Bridge around 7:30 am.
