Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun of being involved in the recent burning of two local council secretariats in Rivers State.

Frank expressed his sympathies to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the people of Rivers State on the “unfortunate incident” in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday.

Frank denounced the assaults and said that Wike and the IGP had to step down and take responsibility for the bloodshed.

He stated that as soon as the IGP issued an order for police officers to leave municipal secretariats, criminals stormed the buildings.

Frank applauded President Bola Tinubu for ordering police assistance, but he condemned the response for “coming too late” and for being slanted in Wike’s favor because he believes Wike has threatened to topple the government.

According to Frank, “Wike has been bragging that he has the President’s approval to topple Governor Fubara’s administration.”

Frank asked all patriotic Nigerians, including past leaders and union chiefs, to mobilize against the violence and seek punishment for those responsible for the attacks.

In addition, he urged the UN to step in and insisted that those responsible for the violence be held accountable.
