The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) have been ordered by a Kano State High Court to refrain from withholding allocations for the 44 Kano State Local Governments.
Following a motion ex-parte submitted on November 1 by Ibrahim Muhammad, the chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and five other state residents who were concerned, the court granted the decision.
Usman Isa, Sarki Kurawa, Ibrahim Shehu, Ibrahim Abubakar, and Malam Usman Imam are the others.
Through their attorneys, Mr. Bashir Yusuf-Muhammad and Usman Bala-Salisu, who raised concerns about the potential withholding or delay of allocations necessary for local administration in the state, the petitioners filed the motion ex parte.
Respondents include the 44 Kano Local Governments, UBA, Access Bank, six other commercial banks, the Central Bank of Nigeria (46th defendant), the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (47th defendant), and the Accountant-General of the Federation (45th defendant).
An Order of Interim Injunction was given by Justice Ibrahim Musa-Muhammad to prevent the 45th to 54th respondents—either individually or through their agents, officers, privies, or representatives—from interfering with the applicants’ rights in this litigation.
