Emenike Azubuike, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate for Isuikwuato LGA in the election scheduled for November 2, has expressed dissatisfaction over the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission’s failure to provide him with Certified True Copies (CTC) of his result sheets.
He claims that despite his written and acknowledged requests on November 3 and November 4, 2024, the Abia State electoral umpire has not yet responded to his request.
Speaking to reporters in Umuahia on Thursday, the ADC candidate claimed that ABSIEC officials had thwarted all of his attempts to obtain his election results.
He asserted that there were instances of late material delivery, voter indifference, and over voting in certain polling places, and that the results declared by ABSIEC in Isuikwuato did not accurately represent the number of votes cast.
He stated that he was certain that the people of Isuikwuato awarded him and his party a sizable number of votes, and that he was thinking of going to court to contest the poll’s results.
Furthermore, according to Azubuike, the party that was proclaimed the winner of Isuikwuato LGA did not even field a candidate.
Speaking about the Isuikwuato chairmanship election, Deacon Iyke, the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, added, “We have applied for the results of our election since 3/11/2024 through our candidates, but the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has not yet provided them to us.”
However, when news reporters reached out to him on Friday, Professor George Chima, the Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, called the accusations “funny.” He also advised Emenike Azubuike and his party to get the results from the Electoral Officer (EO) in charge of Isuikwuato rather than the media.
