Two weeks after marrying Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi, Wuraola Surajudeen applied to an Ilorin Area Court on Wednesday for a divorce on the grounds of lack of love and devotion.
Prior to marrying Iya-Onitasi, she was previously married, she disclosed to the court.
”I divorced my former husband due to pressure from my mother.
“My former husband became a religious fanatic after our marriage and my parents were against him.
“I was introduced to my present husband and we got along smoothly, but immediately after the marriage, I developed hatred for him,”she said.
Declaring that she was sick of the marriage, the defendant told the court that his wife had left the house without his permission.
However, he said that he made several attempts to consummate the union but she refused, so he left her alone.
Hammed Ajumonbi, the presiding judge, mandated that the petitioner reimburse the dowry.
Ajumonbi postponed the case until December 4 in order to issue a divorce decree.
