Omoyele Sowore, the former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, has called on Nigerians to participate in a statewide demonstration against the judiciary over Dele Farotimi’s trial.
Notes that Faraotimi, a human rights advocate, was detained by Ekiti State Police Command officers on charges of disparaging Aare Afe Babalola SAN, the founder of Afe Babalola University, in his recently released book, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.”
Following his appearance at the Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Farotimi was subsequently placed under remand in custody till December 10.
Nigerians nationwide have responded to the lawyer’s suffering in a variety of ways, with many calling for his release.
The demonstration will begin on December 10 from the Federal Ministry of Justice Abuja, at Afe Babalola Chambers in Lagos, the Police Headquarters in Ekiti, and the Kings College Campus in London, according to a post made by Sowore using his official X Twitter.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”, he wrote.
