This development was revealed during the Commission’s regular weekly meeting held on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission disclosed that seven new applications were submitted within the past week, raising the total number of applications to 129.

“At its regular weekly meeting held today, Thursday 10th July 2025, the Commission received further updates on additional requests from associations seeking registration as political parties. Since last week, seven more applications have been received, bringing the total number so far to 129. All the requests are being processed,” the statement noted.

In addition to providing updates on party registration, the Commission also announced the launch of a new digital platform aimed at simplifying the registration process. The platform is part of the broader Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System developed by INEC to enhance transparency and efficiency.

According to Olumekun, final testing of the portal is expected to be completed within the coming week.
