The legal community in Abia State and across Nigeria is celebrating a major milestone as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Abia State, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, has been elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The elevation, which was announced by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), marks a remarkable recognition of Uwanna’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession, reform of the justice system, and commitment to excellence in legal advocacy.
Barr. Uwanna, who has served as the Attorney General under the administration of Governor Alex Otti, is widely praised for driving reforms in Abia’s legal and judicial framework, including digitization of court processes, promoting access to justice, and strengthening the rule of law.
The rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is the highest recognition for excellence in the legal profession and is awarded to legal practitioners who have distinguished themselves in advocacy and contribution to the development of the law in Nigeria.
With this elevation, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna joins the elite league of legal luminaries in Nigeria and becomes one of the few Attorneys General from the South East to attain the coveted SAN status while in office.
