The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has restated its resolve to eliminate godfatherism, money politics and backroom deals from Nigeria’s political system.

Speaking on Sunday at a meeting of the Conscience Forum, the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, said the ADC was divinely ordained to liberate Nigerians from entrenched political practices that undermine democracy.

“ADC is not like any party in Nigeria. People think it is just like any other party. When you are asked about the ideology of ADC, let it be clear: our ideology is a people-friendly government,” the former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State governor said.

He explained that the ADC is people-centric and committed to governance that prioritises the masses, including workers and artisans, over political elites.

“This is our most distinct commitment—to serve the people,” Aregbesola said, adding: “You know them, and I also know them. Bye-bye to jaga jaga. Bye-bye to all of them.”

At the event, Aregbesola also welcomed new members into the party, stressing that the ADC has positioned itself as a political platform for ordinary Nigerians seeking genuine change.
