The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lambasted the Presidency over its claim that President Bola Tinubu has no plans to extend his tenure beyond 2031, describing the remark as presumptuous and undemocratic.

In a statement on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, insisted Tinubu’s mandate ends in 2027 and urged him to prepare to hand over to “a more competent Nigerian.”

The ADC accused the APC-led government of plunging the country into deeper hardship, citing worsening insecurity and economic collapse.

“Under his watch, national security has degenerated into a cruel joke. Terrorists, bandits, and criminals now operate with impunity. Rural communities have become warzones. Insecurity has metastasized into national trauma,” the statement said.

On the economy, the party decried the collapse of the naira, soaring inflation, and rising food prices, saying Nigerians are bearing the brunt of poor policies and harsh taxes.

“Businesses are collapsing, jobs are disappearing, and the middle class is vanishing. Nigerians are now poorer, hungrier, and angrier than they were before Tinubu took office,” the ADC declared.
