The member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ojema Ojotu, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ojotu, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, announced his defection in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House and read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

In the letter, Ojotu explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with his constituents, family members, and political associates.

“After consultation with my constituents, family members and political associates, I have decided to dump the PDP for the APC,” the lawmaker stated.

He attributed his defection to the lingering internal crisis within the PDP, which he said had hindered effective party cohesion and progress.

Ojotu’s move adds to the growing list of opposition lawmakers crossing over to the ruling party in recent months.
