A former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eddy Olafeso, has claimed that individuals trying to block the party’s national convention are working toward creating a one-party state in Nigeria.

Speaking on a Channels Television programme on Tuesday, Olafeso reacted to a Federal High Court order halting the PDP’s planned convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan. He described the ruling as the height of what he called “judicial rascality.”

“The restraining order from the Federal High Court today against our scheduled convention did not come as a shock to us,” he said, adding that a group was determined to “destroy the party completely.”

However, Olafeso insisted the PDP will not be derailed, expressing confidence that the convention would still proceed. He maintained that forces opposing the convention have “ulterior motives” intended to weaken the party and undermine opposition politics in the country.

“Good will prevail over evil,” he stated.
