Governors of the South-West states are currently holding a security meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to assess and address emerging threats across the region.
Those in attendance include Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is hosting the meeting, as well as Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti). Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is represented by his deputy, Kola Adeusi.
The meeting, convened on Monday, was called to review the security situation in the zone amid growing concerns about safety and coordinated regional responses.
Governor Makinde’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, confirmed the development in a brief telephone conversation with newsmen.
“The meeting has started. All the governors are present except Governor Adeleke, who was represented by his deputy,” Olanrewaju said.
Details of the discussions are expected to emerge after the meeting.
