President Bola Tinubu on Monday met behind closed doors with six governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the State House in Abuja.
Details of the discussion were not disclosed at the time of this report, and the meeting ended without any public briefing from the governors.
The governors in attendance were Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto and Nasir Idris of Kebbi.
The meeting comes at a time of heightened insecurity across parts of the North West and North Central regions where school children and worshipers have faced repeated attacks and abductions.
It also follows President Tinubu’s declaration of a nationwide security emergency on November 26. Under the directive, the army, police and intelligence agencies were ordered to expand recruitment and deploy thousands of additional personnel.
