Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is unwell and currently managing health challenges.
Sowore also claimed that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, is “practically dying.”
He made the assertions on Sunday while commenting on the circumstances surrounding President Tinubu’s recent trip abroad.
President Tinubu, who had been in Lagos State for the Christmas and New Year holidays, departed Nigeria for Europe on Sunday.
In an earlier statement, the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu is also scheduled to proceed to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates for an official visit.
According to Onanuga, the President will participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit at the invitation of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Reacting via a post on X, Sowore wrote: “Nigeria’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unwell just managing himself, reason he’s abruptly flown to ‘Europe’ today @Senator_Akpabio is practically dying, why is Nigeria governed by sick people?
“And whereas nothing is wrong with illnesses it is callous to use a country as health insurance for sick leaders.”
The Presidency has not responded to the claims as of the time of filing this report.
