My attention has been drawn to an interview by Chief Don Ubani, on Channels Television held on Thursday 14th January,2026 in which a lot of issues were raised by Chief Ubani including an allegation of lack of infrastructure in Ukwa West LGA.
Since the inception of the administration of Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, it is on record that Chief Ubani has been reeling on his trade -in-stock by unleashing unarticulated attacks on the present administration. Two issues are understandably behind this step by this Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress who has participated fully in the comatose administration of the past that ruined Abia State before the coming on board of the present administration. One of it is that, Chief was expressing his feeling of pain and anger over the failure of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP)to perpetually remain in power. The second reason being that Chief Ubani is bent on seeking relevance in his new party, hence he is determined to do and say anything against the present administration and the Governor in order to attract attention. It is unfortunate that the present administration led by Dr Alex Otti is not ready to compromise with it’s determined policy trust of rebuilding Abia by turning deaf ears to the wailings of the past actors in Abia.
For the avoidance of any doubt, the claims of Chief Ubani against the administration of Dr. Alex Otti are generally distortion of facts given the visible transformational achievements of the present administration. It is obvious and undoubtedly clear to Abians, from all walks of life that Governor Otti is rebuilding Abia in line with the visions of the founding fathers of the State. Particularly as it concerns Ukwa West LGA, the Governor has through the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), impacted lives positively, changed the narratives of the Commission’s intervention activities and is tackling the development needs of the oil producing communities.
It ridiculous, though not surprising that Chief Ubani has not acknowledged any single intervention by the Governor through ASOPADEC in Ukwa West LGA whereas the Commission has undertaken infrastructural developments, water projects, electricity, education, health, agriculture, skills acquisition and empowerment programs. These interventions are visible even in the very community that Chief Ubani comes from.
We stand to be verified or maybe contradicted that the following intervention activities of the Commission are on the ground in Ukwa West LGA;

From the above, we make bold to say that Chief Ubani’s claims are not only gross misrepresentation of facts, but baseless, unfounded and misleading. At his age, and given his antecedents of failure as a serial appointee of different failed governments, we expected him to be more sober and desist from churning out lies aimed at misinforming and misleading the public. The Governor’s numerous projects in Ukwa West LGA through ASOPADEC, tell a story of rapid transformation, development and progress. The people of Asa land are happy with the government of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and will continue to support the Governor massively.
