President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates out of the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President confirmed the deployment of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France and Colonel Lateef Are as ambassador-designate to the United States of America.
Also approved is the posting of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former envoy to South Korea, as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Former Governor of Kebbi State, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, was named ambassador-designate to Turkey, a country President Tinubu is expected to visit on a state trip next week.
“In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu urged the ministry to notify the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates, in accordance with diplomatic procedures,” the statement said.
Recalls that the Nigerian Senate in December screened and confirmed 68 ambassador-designates nominated by President Tinubu for diplomatic postings across the world.
