Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has held a meeting with the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party ADP Yabagi Yusuf Sani and other senior party executives.
The meeting reportedly took place on Saturday at Atiku’s residence in Abuja.
The engagement comes amid growing speculation about possible alliances among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
There have been reports suggesting that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso may emerge on the African Democratic Congress ADC presidential ticket to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
Such a development is believed to be unfavourable to Atiku, who is also reportedly interested in contesting for the ADC presidential ticket.
However, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf clarified that the meeting with Atiku was not related to any proposed merger with another political party.
He further stated that the discussion was not aimed at recruiting Atiku or any other individual into the ADP.
According to him, the engagement should not be interpreted as part of ongoing negotiations for political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
