The Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, is set to officially take over the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Usman will become the first female National Chairman of a major Nigerian political party.
The national secretariat, located in the Utako District of Abuja, was previously occupied by the Julius Abure led faction of the party until the recent decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which formally recognised Usman and her leadership team.
As of the time of filing this report, a banner bearing the photographs of Usman and the Acting National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwochocha, was being hoisted around the building in preparation for an event expected to signal the beginning of a new era for the party.
