Nigeria’s inflation rate declined slightly to 15.06 percent in February 2026 from 15.10 percent recorded in January.

The figure was disclosed by the National Bureau of Statistics in its February Consumer Price Index and inflation report released on Monday.

According to the statistics agency, the country’s headline inflation fell by 0.04 percentage points on a month-to-month basis.

Despite the slight drop in overall inflation, food inflation increased during the period, rising to 12.12 percent in February from 8.89 percent recorded in January.

“February 2026, the headline inflation rate eased to 15.06 percent, down from 15.10 percent in January 2026,” the NBS stated in the report.

The agency added that on a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate in February stood at 2.01 percent, which was 4.89 percent higher than the rate recorded in January 2026, when inflation was recorded at negative 2.88 percent.

“This means that in February 2026, the rate of increase in the average price level was higher than the rate of increase in the average price level in January 2026,” the report noted.

Meanwhile, the Financial Derivatives Company (FDC) had earlier projected that the country’s headline inflation for February would drop to 14.07 percent.
