The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has announced the fees for its nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections, with presidential aspirants expected to pay a total of N60 million.
Details of the party’s timetable and fee structure were contained in a statement signed by the National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and the National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
According to the timetable released by the party, the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for all elective positions commenced on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and will close on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The party disclosed that screening and interviews for aspirants will take place between May 19 and May 21 before the commencement of nomination form sales from May 21 to May 23. Completed forms are expected to be submitted on or before May 25.
The NDC further stated that appeals arising from the screening exercise will be handled between May 25 and May 26, while party primaries for various offices are scheduled for May 27 and May 28.
According to the timetable, the presidential primary election will hold in Abuja on May 29, 2026.
The party explained that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level, while aspirants seeking seats in the State Houses of Assembly would undergo screening in their respective states. Screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be conducted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The statement added that all aspirants would be required to sign undertakings in line with the party’s code of conduct and electoral guidelines.
The NDC assured party members and aspirants of what it described as “a transparent, inclusive and democratic process” during the conduct of the primaries.
Part of the statement read: “The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries.”
The party also announced that it would adopt the “open secret ballot” voting method during the primaries to strengthen credibility and transparency.
Under the approved fee structure, presidential aspirants are expected to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form, bringing the total cost to N60 million.
Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N20 million for the Nomination Form.
For Senate positions, aspirants are expected to pay N3 million and N5 million respectively, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form.
State House of Assembly aspirants will pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.
The party maintained that its nomination fees remain among the lowest charged by major political parties in the country.
The NDC also announced concessions for women and persons living with disabilities. Female aspirants are expected to pay 50 percent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities will enjoy a 75 percent waiver across all categories.
The statement added that the party remains committed to producing credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
